What will be the material change to Basildon’s governance if we were to become a Borough?

There would be none at all, save that the office of Chairman would become the office of Mayor and we would be known as Basildon Borough Council. There should be little cost to make the change as the current signage for the Council says simply Basildon Council. If they wanted to spend on future things they could but the administration has not suggested they would. Individuals could also be offered “The Freedom of the Borough” for, say, prominent service to the community.
